Short answer
There is no single price. What you pay depends on five things: how many pages you need, features like booking or an online store, who writes the content and takes the photos, the yearly running costs (domain, hosting and security) and who updates and fixes the site after launch. Compare the total over two years, not just the build price. As one example, Site33 plans run from Rs 999 a month (Starter, one page) to Rs 9,999 a month (Shop Plus, online store), with domain, hosting and monthly edits included, on a 12-month plan.
Key takeaways
- Compare the total cost over two years, not only the build price.
- Running costs (domain, hosting, security, backups and edits) continue every year.
- Make sure the domain is registered in your name.
- Ask what happens if you cancel, or want to move your website, before you sign.

One-time build or monthly plan?
There are two common ways to pay for a business website.
One-time build
You pay a designer or agency once to build the site, then pay separately for the domain, hosting and every change after launch. This can work well if you have someone technical who will keep the site updated and secure.
Watch out for
- Yearly renewals for the domain and hosting, sometimes at a higher price than the first year
- A charge for every small change, like a new price or photo
- Nobody responsible when the site breaks or gets hacked
- A domain or hosting account registered in someone else's name
Monthly plan
You pay a fixed amount every month, and the provider designs, hosts and looks after the site. Costs are predictable and updates are included, but you keep paying for as long as you use the service, and most plans have a minimum term.
Neither is always cheaper
Add up what you would pay over two years for each option, including the renewals and the changes you expect to need. Then compare.
What changes the price
- Number of pages. A one-page website costs less than a ten-page website with a blog.
- Online booking. Appointments with alerts and reminders need extra setup.
- Online store. Products, delivery charges, cash on delivery and payment gateways add work and monthly costs.
- Content. If you supply your own text and photos, you save money. Professional writing and photography cost extra.
- Custom design. A design made completely from scratch costs more than one built on a proven layout.
- Looking after it. Backups, security updates and monthly edits are either included in the price or paid separately.

Questions to ask before you pay anyone
- Is the domain registered in my name, and can I log in to it?
- What will the domain and hosting cost to renew after the first year?
- How many changes are included each month, and what does an extra change cost?
- Are backups taken, and how quickly can my website be restored?
- Who fixes the website if it goes down or gets hacked, and how fast?
- Is there a minimum term, and what does it cost to cancel early?
- Can I move my website to another provider later, and what exactly do I get?
- Are taxes included in the price?
At Site33 these answers are written in your agreement. The domain is registered in your name. Cancel before 12 months: you pay 50% of the remaining months' fees, plus any launch discount you received. After 24 months, pay 6 times your monthly fee for a permanent licence to a static copy of your website (without our CMS, automations or platform tools).
How to keep the cost down
- Start with the pages you need now. You can add pages later as the business grows.
- Prepare your content before you start: services, prices, timings, photos and logo. Delivery is usually counted from the day your content is complete.
- Use real photos from your phone, taken in daylight, instead of paying for a photo shoot at the start.
- Ask for a design preview before you pay. At Site33 your homepage design is free and arrives in 3 working days.
- Choose a plan with the number of edits you will actually use.
Common questions
Is a cheap website a bad idea?
Not always. A simple one-page website is enough for many small businesses. Problems start when a low price leaves out hosting, security, backups or changes, or when the domain is not in your name. Check what is included, not just the price.
Do I have to pay for a domain every year?
Yes, a domain is rented, not bought forever. It has to be renewed on time, usually every one or two years, or your website and any email on that domain stop working. On Site33 plans the domain is included and renewed for you while you are subscribed.
What is included in a Site33 plan?
Every plan includes the domain, hosting, SSL, a design that works on phones, a WhatsApp button, Google setup and monthly edits. Bigger plans add more pages, a blog, online booking or an online store. Compare the plans.
How long does it take to build a business website?
It depends on the size of the website and how quickly the content is ready. At Site33: live in 5 to 14 working days after we get all your content (Starter and Business: 5).
