April: blossom season

Cherry and apricot blossom covers Hunza in early April. Nights are cold, so pack warm layers. Skardu is still waking up.

June to August: everything is open

Deosai, Babusar Top and Khunjerab are open, and every valley is green. It is also the busiest time, so book hotels early.

October: autumn colours

Our favourite month for Hunza. Poplar trees turn gold, the sky is clear and the crowds have gone home.

Winter

Hunza and Skardu are beautiful in snow, but some roads close and days are short. Swat is the easier winter trip for families.

  • Pack thermals, gloves and a warm cap
  • Expect power cuts, hotels run generators
  • Keep a spare day in your plan
